Cappadocia is a historic area in Central Anatolia, especially in the province of Nevşehir in modern Turkey.

In Herodotus' time, Cappadocia reportedly covered the entire area from the Taurus Mountains to the Euxine region (on the Black Sea), with the southern boundary of the Taurus mountain range separating it from Cilicia, the eastern boundary of the Euphrates River and the Armenian plateau, the northern boundary of Pontus, and the western boundary. Lycaonia as well as eastern Galatia.

This name has been traditionally used in Christian sources throughout history and is still widely used as a concept for international tourism in Turkey to define an area of natural wonders, in particular "fairy chimneys" and the unique cultural heritage of Anatolia and Turkey.

Cappadocia is also mentioned in the Christian Bible, among others, in Acts 2: 9 as one of the areas where the group heard the gospel message at Pentecost shortly after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Cappadocia is famous for its unique landscape that looks like the surface of the moon, underground cities, cave churches, and stone houses. The area is included in the Goreme National Park. Since 1985, the site and other rock sites have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
